Take this Course  60 minutes (1 hour)

This course is a tale of two dynamic teachers. First, high school social studies teacher Luke Fritz examines his Rwandan Genocide unit—a project that students routinely say sticks with them forever. Learn how Fritz hooks students and keeps them engaged to the final assignment, where a mock UN Security Council meeting empowers his students to speak truth to power.

Then, Niki Roebuck, high school English teacher, shares about the Big Idea Project, the initiative that made her a finalist for Schomp’s 2021 Colorado Teacher of the Year. Teachers of all levels will benefit from hearing how Roebuck challenges her students to get outside of the classroom and engage with their communities, often raising thousands of dollars for local charities and hosting events that have real, lasting impact. Hear real stories about the deep impacts Roebuck’s initiatives had on formerly disengaged students and how each student learned real skills in the process.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion reflecting a total course time of 60 minutes (1 hour) and course completion on a provided transcript.
